Fries love the American people. In fact, Thomas Jefferson first served it in 1802 in the White House.
An eight year by the American Council of Clinical Nutrition shows that it contains high levels of fat and salt. The dietary habits of 4,400 people ages 45 to 79, analyzed the frequency participants ate fried and non-fried potatoes.
Study results show double the risk of premature death when this food is consumed two or more times per week. Moreover, at the end of the study, 236 participants had died. Most relevant, excessive consumption is also linked to an overall unhealthy lifestyle.
Of interest, this mortality risk is not associated with non-fried potatoes.
