What is Hospice Care?
Hospice care is care at the end of life. Hospice care is sometimes associated with Palliative care, though it is not entirely the same thing.
Hospice care in a nursing home setting, is provided by a dedicated team of professionals, who work in collaboration with the team of nurses and CNA’s to supplement their own efforts, by providing nuanced medical, psychological, and spiritual support. The goal of the care is to help people who are dying have peace, comfort, and dignity in their final days.
Hospice by its clinical definition is when the patient is expected to live no more than 6 months. The modality of care calls for abstaining from any invasive procedures that will prolong life at the expense of comfort and dignity.
The goal is for the patient to remain as pain free and comfortable as possible.
At Royal Suites Healthcare and Rehabilitation, we offer Hospice Care and provide an equal measure of comfort and support not only to the hospice patient, but also to the family as well.
